The Aboriginal Youth Leadership program

The Aboriginal Youth Leadership program engages high school students who form small groups of both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal participants. The program aims to promote leadership and community spirit within the local community.

In the first phase of the program, the young people decide what excursions they would like to take. They then organise all of the logistics and present their ideas to the leadership panel to gain approval. The group documents the excursion and reports on expenditure, presenting this to the panel.

The second and third phase works towards projects which are community based. Core funding for Aboriginal Youth Support is provided by Human Services, Department of Community Services (Community Services Grants Program).
